Stephanie D. Winstead is a tax attorney with The Waage Law Firm, A Professional Corporation.
Ms. Winstead holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California at Irvine where she volunteered at the University’s Child Development Center (CDC), a nationally recognized center of excellence in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and related disorders of attention, behavior and learning. While adhering to FDA protocol during research studies conducted at the CDC, Ms. Winstead realized her affinity for law.
Upon graduation Ms. Winstead obtained an entry level position with Marshack Schulman & Hodges, one of Southern California's elite bankruptcy and business reorganization law firms. Her experiences there furthered her ambition to practice law.
Thereafter, Ms. Winstead was admitted to Chapman University School of Law and received an academic scholarship. While furthering her legal education, she was Vice President of the Tax Law Society and enrolled in the law school’s Tax Emphasis Program where she completed coursework in Estate and Gift Tax, Wills and Trusts, Taxation of Business Organizations, U.S. Taxation of International Transactions, and Tax Research. In addition, Ms. Winstead participated in Chapman’s federally funded Tax Clinic where she assisted individuals in resolving their tax disputes with the IRS. Ms. Winstead also volunteered her time preparing income tax returns for individuals through the IRS’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
While attending law school Ms. Winstead clerked at the prestigious Orange County litigation firm, Spray Gould & Bowers. Her responsibilities included performing all aspects of case management from inception through trial, including conducting discovery, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, meeting with witnesses, and assisting lead counsel at jury trial as second chair.
Ms. Winstead graduated from Chapman University School of Law in 2003 with an Emphasis in Tax Law. Upon passing the California Bar Examination and being admitted to practice law in California, Ms. Winstead continued working at Spray Gould & Bowers as an attorney. Though excelling in litigation, she was compelled to pursue her desire of practicing tax law and estate planning.
Ms. Winstead joined The Waage Law Firm, A Professional Corporation in the autumn of 2005. Her strong educational background and diverse legal experience make Ms. Winstead a valued member of the firm’s legal team and serve as an asset to the clients of The Waage Law Firm, A Professional Corporation.
