Mr. McElroy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Bradley University in Illinois. While an undergraduate, Mr. McElroy also attended the University of Vienna in Vienna, Austria. He received his Juris Doctor Degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas, Texas.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. McElroy was offered an in-house position with a regional employee benefits consulting firm, where he advised clients on retirement planning opportunities.
Following this consulting position, Mr. McElroy moved to Chicago, where he gained practical business experience as an in-house corporate attorney. He was responsible for providing employee benefits advice for corporate plans covering approximately 30,000 employees. This practical hands-on experience served Mr. McElroy well during his subsequent affiliation with several Chicago law firms, including Vedder, Price, Kaufman & Kammholz, P.C. and Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon, LLP. During his tenure in Chicago, Mr. McElroy was also Manager in the actuarial, benefits and compensation consulting practice of the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young, LLP.
During his career, Mr. McElroy has assisted clients with the establishment of defined benefit pension plans (including target benefit plans), defined contribution pension plans [including 401(k) plans], employee stock ownership plans, cafeteria plans, flexible spending accounts, welfare benefit plans, qualified transportation expense reimbursement plans, and educational assistance programs. Additionally, Mr. McElroy has extensive experience in advising clients on the establishment of various executive compensation programs.
