David J. Grant is a Tax and Corporate attorney with The Waage Law Firm, A Professional Corporation, and is licensed to practice in California and Washington. Mr. Grant has thirty years of professional experience, specializing in income tax planning for public and closely-held corporations and their owners.

Mr. Grant holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College, and a Master of Sciences and Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Southern California, where he was a member of the Law Review and Order of the Coif. Mr. Grant has been admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court and the United States Court of Claims.

Following law school Mr. Grant was affiliated with a number of law firms in Los Angeles, including the national firm of McKenna, Conner & Cuneo, where he was the partner in charge of the Tax and Employee Benefits Group for 14 years. He moved to Seattle in 1993 to head up the Tax Department at Garvey, Schubert & Barer, and subsequently joined the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche, LLP, where he was in charge of developing tax-advantaged strategies for Deloitte’s Comprehensive Tax Solutions Group that saved clients millions of dollars in taxes.

During his career Mr. Grant has been an active member of the bar, serving as the Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Employee Benefits Committee and the Banking and Savings Institutions Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation. He has also written extensively on a wide variety of tax topics, and currently serves as an Advisory Board Member to Tax Management. He has also been active in civic matters, and currently serves as President of the Board of The With Grace Training Foundation, a non-profit corporation providing job readiness training to recent immigrants and single mothers on welfare.

Mr. Grant’s practice is focused on addressing the legal and tax issues faced by corporations, partnerships and other business entities in the conduct of their business, including the issues associated with major life events such as business combinations, acquisitions and divestitures. Over the years he has advised clients on a wide variety of transactions including the formation of corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies; domestic and foreign debt and equity offerings (including IPOs); the creation and operation of private foundations; the design and implementation of executive compensation plans; and the licensing of technology and intellectual property.

Mr. Grant draws upon his years of experience to craft effective strategies for resolving business and tax issues that assist clients of The Waage Law Firm, A Professional Corporation, in achieving their business and personal objectives.
